- If you prefer not to use the bus or if you arrive when the bus isn't running, you can use a share-ride app like Uber or Lyft for direct transportation from the airport to your destination in El Paso.
Ciudad Juarez International Airport (CJS)
Located across the border in Juarez, Mexico, this airport is an alternative for international flights or for those looking for potentially cheaper fares. Here's how to navigate from CJS to El Paso:
Crossing the Border:
- Ride-share or Taxi to the Border and then cross by foot: You can take a taxi or use a share-ride app (Uber, Lyft, etc.) from the Juarez Airport to one of the international bridges. The Paso del Norte International Bridge and the Zaragoza International Bridge are often recommended for its safety and ease of access. Once there, you can walk across the border on foot.
- Note: As of the latest information, Uber and other share-ride services are not allowed to pick up directly at the Juarez Airport; you would need to walk a short distance outside to arrange your ride.
- Safety Tips: Always be aware of your surroundings, especially if walking across the border. It's advisable to cross during daylight hours and carry your passport or valid ID.
- Transborde Ruta Binacional: This service provides a direct bus that crosses the border from Juarez Airport to El Paso. The bus ride includes the border crossing, so you won't need to cross on foot. The bus departs from the airport and arrives at Estacion 5 de Mayo in downtown El Paso. From there, you can catch a share ride app or taxi to your destination.
- Booking Tickets: You can book your Transborde bus tickets here. Please check the schedule and availability in advance.
Once in El Paso:
After crossing, you have several options:
- Request another Uber or taxi on the El Paso side to your final destination.
- If you crossed from the Paso del Norte International Bridge, you can walk to the downtown bus station, which is a 7 minute walk from the Santa Teresa Bridge. From there, you can take the bus that will take you closer to your destination in El Paso. For instance, the Brio 205 has a stop at UTEP (University of Texas at El Paso), making it convenient if your destination is near or at the university.
